The execution of this sculpture is closely related to that of Maria de la O (Opus 92) and Maria de la O II (Opus 99, its variant), which participated in the genesis of Berrocal's small multiple puzzles. Here, the dimensions are reduced by half (compared to Maria de la O II) and its composition is much more complex and complete, with 23 tiny elements against 7 for Maria de la O. All the 'half-sculptures' of Berrocal, including the Mini-Maria, have one thing in common: There is a ring set in the structure, whose proportions adjust to the morphology of the sculpture with great accuracy.
The Mini-Maria was produced in very large numbers, 10,000 copies just like the Mini-David, Berrocal having been encouraged by the first success of his concept with Maria de la O (200 copies).
