ZADKINE Ossip (1890-1967)

Born in Russia, Zadkine will study art in London and move to Paris in 1909. He is taught by Injalbert and start sculpting. Influenced by Rodin, he exhibits busts, and classic groups in different salons. His styles evoves very fast to cubism. His characters present stylized faces, reminding of Modigliani, on deconstructed bodies coming close to abstraction. Many materials such as plaster, terracotta, woods, marble or stone are use for his artwork. He also uses bronze cast by Susse or Rudier.
