RICHIER Germaine (1904-1959)

Richier studied in the Montpellier Beaux-Arts and moves to Paris to learn from Bourdelle for many years. Her first exhibition is in 1934, after working for years and features busts and nudes inspired by her teacher. After the war, she develops an interest for animal sculpture, depicting birds or spiders with materials such as colored glass mixed with lead. Very touched by the war, she quickly becomes a creator of strange and mental distress, by strongly expressing the misfortune of that period.
