RENOIR Auguste (1841-1919)
Renoir started sculpting very late, when he was almost unable to use his hands, helped by the young Richard Guino co-author of his works. Most of them were realised based on his paintings or drawings. Renoir works very early in a ceramic workshop where he paints flowers on plates. After two years in the Beaux-Arts, he met Degas, Monet, Sisley, Cézanne and becomes one of the biggest impressionists painters. Only 2 of his sculptures were made by his own hands and the others by Guino. Most of them are bronzes cast by Rudier and reproduced by others.
