PRADIER Jean-Jacques dit James (1790-1852)

Meticulous and spiritual, Pradier is known for his numerous elegant feminine statuettes. He studies at the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1807 and receives in 1813 the “Premier Prix de Rome”. His first exhibition in the Salon is in 1819, making him famous and later surrounded by many artists. Becoming teacher at the Beaux-Arts and a member of the Institut, he received many official orders and is the most renowned sculptor of his time. His work have been reproduced so many times that it is impossible to list all his editions.
