MANOLO / Manuel Martinez Hugué (1872-1945)
Born and grown up in Barcelona, he sudies at its Beaux-Arts and meets artists like Picasso during the city's nightlife. He moves in 1910 in Céret for almost 30 years and starts working hard until he became the first artists contracting with Kahnweiler and presented in New-York. His work is very inspired by south, Spain and he conceives small statuettes like dansers, toreadors, and paysannes . In the 1937 Exposition Internationale, he is selected as one of the “maitres de l'art” as a sculptor.
