LANDOWSKI Paul, Maximilien (1875-1961)

Former student of Barrias in the parisian Beaux-Arts in 1893, Landowski was awarded with the Prix de Rome. He later executed small statuettes inspired from his trips in Italy and the Maghreb and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. Influenced by Rodin he adopted monumental sculptures and was inspired by aviation and boxing. His style later evolved into a mix of realism and neo-classicism. He is the sculptor of the famous 'Christ rédempteur' in Rio de Janeiro. His bronzes where cast by Blanchet-Landowski, Gatti, Rudier and Susse.
