JOUVE Pierre Paul (1878-1973)

He is one of the greatest painters and animalist of the XXth century and a very talented sculptor. He was first taught painting by his father before learning carving at the Arts Décoratifs. His first work was presented at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts from 1894. His style is inspired by the XIXth century's classical style of animal sculptures, with an Art Deco treatment. His work progressively became impressionnist. He worked on ceramics, plaster, clay and bronzes csat by Rudier, Godard or Valsuani.
