DUPON Josuë (1864-1935)
After successful studies at the academies of Roeselare and Antwerp, this Belgian artist received, three years later, in 1890, a gold medal for a monumental sculpture: Samson killing the lion.
The international career that the sculptor then built earned him many important prizes and an appointment as a professor at the Academy of Antwerp, as well as commissions for sculptures of facades and monuments.
You can admire his sculptures at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, at The British Museum, as well as his birds at the entrance to the Antwerp ZOO.
