Biography of the sculptor:
Originally from Kiev, Alexandra Lazareff spent all her adolescence in Australia, it was at this time that she received an artistic and cultural education inspired by the Anglo-Saxon model. Theater, cinema and the other arts were her future sources of inspiration in which she sought an artistic form to express her impetuous and charismatic personality
After traveling back and forth between Australia and France, years during which the artist works as a young cosmopolitan artist, she finally decides to embark on "portrait painting" in Paris; she will also be very recognized in the Parisian milieu, which commissioned portraits such as Aznavour, Ira Fürstenberg, Michel Simon, Sir Ronald Walker. However tired of this frenzy and the ease, Alexandra forced herself to seek new artistic avenues, she decided to embark on this difficult discipline that is "sculpture". His works are exhibited in the most prestigious galleries of Paris and in French museums and centers in Italy, Germany, Belgium and the United States. She is isolated in an old mill in Tuscany, which allows her to sculpt very original animal forms in this "laboratory", where the predominance of mechanical elements is incumbent on all her sculptures. The artist gives a second breath of life to these bolts, cogs that she sublimates and puts in the spotlight. An “infinite primitive” force emerges from this gallery of imaginary and symbolic plastic figures. Everything is order, balance and accuracy, Alexandra works her bronze animals almost in a carnal way, some pieces require years of work. The result is there, Alexandra takes us with her in her imaginary Noah's ark far behind our daily lives…
"The real sculpture is a family of beautiful shapes grouped together and smiling for eternity". But how do you get there? By "desperate love", only such love is capable of imparting a new force of emotion to objects. We are in the world of emotion. The object must be a receptacle of emotion. We are in the world of emotion and not that of reason. What is emotion, if not the radiant power, ceaselessly suspended between rest and vibration, which pervades everything and transforms everything? The Language of Sculpture is a pretentious nothingness if it is not made up of words of love and poetry ". Alexandra LAZAREFF
