*Comments on the proof.

Berrocal began its production of 'multiple' in 1962-1964 with the sculpture Maria de la O (Opus 92) published in 200 copies and marketed in 1964. This work was rewarded in 1965 by the Sculpture Prize of the Biennale of Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York acquired one of this sculpture.

Maria de la O (Opus 92) marked the beginning of this new aspect of Berrocal's work, which is what audiences today associate most with his work. The great success of this sculpture, consisting of 6 pieces concealing a central cavity in which a seventh piece of phallic shape is inserted, linking with each other to give them cohesion, led to the creation of other sculptures. multiple like the Romeo and Juliet (Opus 101) and the Mini David (Opus 107).

From the original welded iron proof, an edition of 200 sculptures was made between 1962 and 1964 in France at Crespières. All sculptures were executed and produced by the artist himself, and the edition is sold out. Thus 10 copies (including ours), were made in bronze (cast with sand) and patinated black (numbered from 1 to 10) and 190 copies in polished bronze cast in steel shell (signed and numbered from 11/200 to 200/200).
